My Southern roots!

I was taught to deny my ethnicity #sadright 

My step Aunt's told me to say "if anyone asks why you're so dark, you tell them your Southern Italian!! 

I can't make this stuff up! 

Yeah, my Aunt Dora and Aunt Ida were my stepdads Aunts. They would babysit us often. We even lived with them for a little bit while my Mother was in physical rehabilitation after her brain tumor surgery. 

Ah, nothing like teaching a 5 year old to lie about who she really is so the neighbors won't gossip about the little #darkie as I was called.
