Master Crash - How Not To Be An Idiot

With all the talk about #MasterClass I've decided to write about what I call

#MasterCrash, Series One, How Not To Be An Idiot

Theme of the class is to do the following;

1.  Not think the world revolves around you.
2. Be considerate of your actions towards others. The F/ing world does NOT repeat does NOT revolve around you.
3. Be Honest even if it hurts. If you lie, you're trustworthiness is ZERO.
4. Please for the love of God, don't think you're always right because you're not.
5. Be kind. It doesn't cost anything.

If you practice these steps on a daily basis, you will see vast improvements in your day to day dealings with mankind.

Stay tuned, more to follow....

Negative Ions are better

Just as positive ions build up in the atmosphere prior to a storm front, negative ions accumulate following a storm. This surfeit of negative ions has long been associated with improvements in mood and physical health. Research conducted in the last decade has begun to support the view that negative ions have a net positive effect on health.

So very true!

Google Alerts

I became fascinated with the World Wide Web aka Internet when it first came out. Remember, it was always www in lowercase! For myself and everyone that I knew who used the Internet for the first time all shared the same excitement, our world just opened up.
I know for me it did. I felt like I'd be able to do things to make life easier for myself and my family.
My forward thinking was right. I remember my first online order like it was the first time I was kissed. It made shopping easier and back then that was a priority. I ordered a bathing suit!
How insignificant it seems now but for me in my small world it was epic.
Which brings me to my topic, Google Alerts. When I found that feature on my computer a while back I set it up. I was curious to see if anyone looked for me or someone else who shared my name. Much to my surprise I kept seeing my name appear on my google alerts at the same time. I thought it was just coincidence but I kept seeing my name being searched the same time for a minute there, like about a year or so. 08:34AM was the time of day my name was searched. Weird yeah... but when it comes to things that I've seen weird is an understatement. I'm not referring to anything kinky,no,not at all. To each his/her own. No judgement. I'm talking about weird shit that people do and how they can be so off with and towards others. We're all mental defects in our own way but I've seen some that are just Special! I definitely can't make this stuff up.
We never know what lurks out there so always be on your guard.
Life ain't unicorns and rainbows, its more like pain, suffering, exhaustion, then some relief then some more of the same struggles but in different ways. Unless you live in a bubble.
Peace and blessings to all!

So I have a tracker on my blog that only I can see and the funny thing is that Centerport Long Island seems to sign-on whenever I go to see stats.

I guess if you're a stalker, you do things like that?

Miss Roller Skater

Years ago when I was in a funk I remember this girl that I worked with telling me, "girl, get outta ya funk & get over it!" I said, "your right girl!"
Now this woman was 300 pounds & she was the same height as I am, which is 5'6".  I sat there for a quick moment, looked at her up & down & then gave myself a quick one over & I said "damn skippy I will!"
My weight back then was 130ish. Anyways, she would come to work and share stories from her weekend rollerskating activities.
She was a large full figure woman. The thought of her having a good time laughing on the skating rink made me think.  I said to myself, "damn, if she can get on a pair of skates with her big ass & not give a F, I don't have a damn thing to worry about.  I am not body shaming full figured women, REPEAT NOT BODY SHAMING, what I'm saying is that we, us screwed up human beings are our own worst enemies.
She had me laughing so hard that I thought I would pee my pants.
We all underestimate ourselves when we have things going on. It's human nature. We find our defects and we only focus on them.
I'm no Doctor Phyllis but I know human nature.  Sometimes it can be something as simple as knowing others are able to enjoy themselves and yet they too have their fare share of issues.

Moral of my post, be happy about the little things.
Have fun, even if its something really simple as enjoying a good book or laughing at yourself for doing the dumb shit we all do. Things pass. We learn how to weather the storms.

An old post from 2011

So I remember going through a very difficult time in my life after 911.  I remember reaching out to a few therapists because I was in the throngs of a severe depression.  Gee, who would image that? I just lost my husband (we were divorced but had gotten back together - technically he was my ex-husband), my Mom just passed away from lung cancer & I was living on East 28th Street & 2nd Avenue.  I lived one city block from the Office of The Chief Medical Examiner OCME.

After the attacks I wouldn't ride the subways out of fear of being blown up so I'd make my way back home on the bus.  I'd take the M101 bus home.  The route for that bus was up along First Avenue.  Well, while on the bus many times I'd see the OCME trucks bringing body parts to the site.  It was just so surreal and overwhelming that I'd just look and stare - I was catatonic but functioning.  The bus would stop diagonally across the street from the entrance to the OCME and the workers in the white jumpsuits would line up & start taking the body parts off the trucks.

I remember calling a few therapists and leaving voicemail messages.  NOT ONE OF THEM CALLED ME BACK!! I can laugh about it now but I was on the edge about to jump.  I actually saved their business cards to remind me how incompetent they were and how I'd never recommend them to anyone in need of a therapy.  I can't make this CRAP UP!! This is as real as a heart attack.

Hypocrites

How many times have we experienced judgemental people who like to preach to us? We all know they are full of crap because we've been in their presence and we've seen and heard them talk or in this case I'll use the word gossip about others.
I just had a run in with what I call a "Convenient Christian." I call them Convenient Christians because they play the religious hand when they want to make themselves feel self-rightheous and without sin.....newsflash......you're full of CRAP!

The #badasshombre

I was watching the story behind a very interesting cat named McAfee.  It's amazing how his truth about corruption in government sparked so much controversy.
I believe him because government is corrupt #AF

Cheap or Not Cheap

Paper Napkin vs Cloth Napkin

So as I was reminiscing about my single dating life with my dental hygienist I told her the story about the "Paper Napkin" date.  She was telling me about how cheap her soon to be ex-husband was since they first met.
I had to share my experience with the Paper Napkin date.  I had been talking to this guy for about three months. Our schedules conflicted so we would chat on the phone or online via online chatting pre-texting era.  Good old AOL days!
This was back in the mid 1990's.
When we finally met for our first date we were deciding upon where to go and have dinner.  We walked past a few nice restaurants and I was waiting for him to take the lead because I wasn't familiar with these places. As we inched our way closer to the menu that was posted on the door I saw him get slightly flustered because he saw the prices for the different entrees.  I got totally turned off but I didn't say anything, I just observed.  Then we walked passed a less expensive restaurant and he seemed more pleased with their prices, all of which were under $10 bucks.
At that point I decided it was a good time to have a sudden migraine because if a guy was going to be cheap on the first date,  he won't get a second date with me.
Hence, the title of this short story, "Paper Napkin vs Cloth Napkin."
Ladies, take my advice, make sure you bring extra cash when on a date because he might ask you to pay for the meal after his credit card gets declined.
Just saying....
We all know how expensive things can be but guys, if you're going to take a lady out for dinner and you're on a budget, pick the place in advance.  Most restaurants will not cost you a weeks salary unless you're in Dubai or your ordering bottles of aged bourbon.
The moral of this story is if it walks like a duck, it's a duck.

Suspended Animation

After the September 11th attacks I was floating or as I like to say, I was in suspended animation for about three years.  I was breathing but barely functioning. I guess seeing people jump from a burning building to their demise while others were running while on fire then seeing my Mother get hourly injection doses of morphine had something to do with it?
Or the fact that I worked a few blocks from the WTC and lived around the corner from NYC OCME’s office where the body parts were being catalogued had an effect on me.
The smell of burning flesh and blood is still permanently ingrained in my sense of smell.
