Tough Times

Today's economy is absolutely hideous! Unless you're living in a cave or under a rock, we've all be affected. I do know this....things will eventually improve. I don't have a crystal ball or a magic wand to give a timeline on when this will happen but it will happen.

In the meantime, we all have to tighten what's left of our spending belts and enjoy the simple things in life....going on family outings, camping, renting DVD's, pot-luck dinners with friends/family & just plain old simple living.

Economic Uncertainty

In today's troubling economy most of us are looking for ways to generate some type of income, whether it be cashing in some old jewelry that's just sitting around, cleaning out our closets and setting up shop on e-bay or just plain & simple "doing without unnecessary items!" That's something that has caused many of us to nose dive into our own economic crash & burn situation.

I've always been very good with money. Albeit no formal training in economics or finance, just the school of hard knocks! My Mom who has been dearly departed gave all of us (I have two sisters & one brother) household assignments. My task was to go grocery shopping. I was grocery shopping for my family at the age of ten! I remember checking the weekly circulars, scrutinizing labels to see if I was getting the best value for my buck and managing household budget.....this was at the age of 10!!

Needless to say math was never my strong suit but I knew how to manage money! Thank you Mom!! The life lessons I've learned as a kid have taught me fiscal responsibility throughout my entire life!!

Now, don't get me wrong, would I love a new BMW? Sure, can I afford a car payment, it's manageable....but do I need any extra debt? That is the key question? The answer to that is a big FAT NO!!! I would love a new car, a few Fendi pocketbooks, a new wardrobe but is that gonna happen? NO!! I can make due with what I already have.

My point being is that too many of us have all fallen into this endless pit of spending unnecessarily! We've all been there, done that somewhere along the line but now it's all been brought to a screeching halt.

We will all get through this, slow but steady & things will improve. Hopefully, we've all learned to not spend what we don't have & to have a nest egg set aside for a rainy day. In this case, it should be a farm filled nest egg for a few rainy years!!

Best of luck to each and everyone of you. We're all here just getting by, at least in my world that's how I live.

Godspeed to all!!
